Head Professional - Andy Evans

My name is Andy Evans, and I’m thrilled to introduce myself as the new PGA Professional here at Newquay Golf Club.

I fell in love with the game at the age of 12, growing up in Liverpool. From early on, I knew I wanted to become a PGA Professional. I played plenty of junior and amateur golf, including county representation but let’s just say I was never going to cause Tiger Woods any trouble so following the PGA route was an easy choice to make and one I haven’t once regretted.

I left home young to pursue my dream, beginning as an assistant pro in Oxford. After qualifying, I moved to Holland and spent 22 fantastic years at the same club. In 2020, I returned to the UK and have since worked at both Cardigan and Alyth Golf Clubs.

I’m also proud to say this will be a family affair, my wife Linda will be playing a big role in our business here at Newquay. She’s a very keen and competitive golfer herself, playing off a handicap of 12, and she’s just as excited as I am to be part of the club.

As a proud Englishman with a passion for links golf, joining a club like Newquay, set in such a stunning part of the world, is a real privilege. I’ve had a soft spot for Cornwall since family holidays here as a child, and I’m genuinely excited to soon call it home.

Coaching has always been a big part of what I do, and I’m passionate about helping golfers of all levels enjoy the game and reach their potential. I’ll also be putting extra focus into junior golf here at the club, developing a strong, fun, and inclusive programme that encourages the next generation of golfers.

One of my main goals is to give you one of, if not the best pro shops in the county. I’ll be offering top-quality service, expert advice, and a carefully selected range of leading brands including Ping, Mizuno, Titleist, Bridgestone, Under Armour, Calvin Klein, Swing Out Sister, FootJoy, Motocaddy and more.

I’m really looking forward to meeting you all, whether in the shop, out on the course, or during a coaching session. I’m here to support your game however I can and to help make your experience at Newquay Golf Club the best it can be.
